AFM King Whisley Puso to try his luck in the GM Balinas Year-Ender Chess Tourney By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Mon, 14 Dec 2020 Manila, Philippines---Fresh from his masterful performance at 2020 Online World Cadets and Youth Rapid Championships, PH child prodigy Arena Fide Master (AFM) King Whisley Puso is set to try his luck in the Grandmaster (GM) and Attorney (Atty) Rosendo Carreon Balinas Jr. Free Registration Online Year Ender Chess Tournament, 13 years old and below, kiddies division on December 26, 2020, Saturday, 11am at the lichess.org. A whopping total cash prize of P25,000 awaits to the winners with the champion getting the lion share of P5,000 in the event backed up by GM Rosendo Balinas Family in cooperation with Mr. Fernan Donguines of Hybreed Apparel Collections, hosted by US based frontliner Dr. Joe Balinas and Engr. Antonio "Uncle Paps" Balinas, both founding honorary chairman of the organizing Bayanihan Chess Club. "I hope to do well in this event,” said the 11 year old Puso, a grade 5 pupil of Marie Margarette School in Santa Rosa City, Laguna. It shall be recalled that Puso won the 2020 Online World Cadets and Youth Rapid Championships Asian Continental qualification tournament last Sunday, December 13, 2020, at the Tornelo platform. With his feat, Puso advance to the World Stage to be held on December 19 to 23, 2020. Puso defeated Daniyal Sapelov of Kazakshtan in the sixth round and Batsukh Anand of Mongolia in the seventh and final round to finish with 6.0 points and No. 1 in his division. Actually, Puso and Xiao Tong(Qd) of China, both tallied 6.0 points apiece, however after the tie break points was applied, the former (Puso) took the title after a superior quotient.
