Thailand Pattaya Youth Chess Championship 2018: PH chess wizard Clark Jemuel Cabatian inches closer to title By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Wed, 24 Oct 2018 FILIPINO chess wizard Clark Jemuel Cabatian halved the point with Sasinat Tawankanjana of Thailand in the seventh round and made short work of Daniel Jueun Hyun of Korea in the eight and penultimate round to move closer to coveted title in the Thailand Pattaya Youth Chess Championship 2018 on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Bay Beach Resort Pattaya, Banglamung, Chin Buried, Thailand. The 8 years old Cabatian, a grade 3 pupil of John Isabel Learning Center in General Trias City, Cavite whose trip here is being supported by local government of General Trias City, Cavite led by Mayor Antonio ?Ony? Ferrer and Congressman Luis ?Jon-jon? Ferrer, sustaining a remarkable winning streak interrupted only by a loss with Rafael Gueta of Thailand in the sixth round. Cabatian's big wins were against Kezia Ruth Liboon of the Philippines in the first round, Vihaan Anup Kumar of Australia in the second round, Gantulga Ariun-Erdene of Mongolia in the third round, Jirath Punyanitya of Thailand in the fourth round and Purichaya Chinkulkitniwat of Thailand in the fifth round. Overall, the prize fighter of General Trias City Chess Club under the watchful eye of PH coach Ederwin Estavillo has 6.5 points in the Under 8 division. Cabatian?s ninth-round assignment is against Thunpisit Pa-In of Thailand. In the Under 12 division, Gio Troy Ventura of Dasmari?as City, Cavite split the point with Relghie Columna of General Trias City, Cavite to remain tied for the lead with Arena International Master (AIM) Bhattacherjee Aayush of India. The draw hiked Ventura?s total to 7 points, the same output put in by Aayush, who outwitted Geraldine Mae Camarines of General Trias City, Cavite. Trailing Ventura and Aayush at six points are Josh Edmar Osorio Castro and Earl Siegfrid Sta. Maria of General Trias City, Cavite while Columna got stalled at 5.5 points in the company of Kai Saipetch of Thailand and Sai Han Thiha of Myanmar. Other Filipino woodpushers still in contention for a possible top 10 finish with 5 points each were Bonjoure Fille Suyamin , Adrian Klein Cantomayor, Geraldine Mae Camarines, Jirah Floravie Cutiyog of General Trias City, Cavite. PH coach Ederwin Estavillo, who is also the president of the General Trias City Chess Club is very confident that the Philippine youth team will be able to bring medals for the country. 'We hope our youth team play better in the ninth and final round and can win a medals for the country," said PH coach Estavillo. Head of Delegation is Ms. Baby Lyn Kempiz of City Mayor?s Office of General Trias, Cavite. They are supported by local government of General Trias City, Cavite led by Mayor Antonio ?Ony?
