This fight will be my stepping stone to my journey back to the struggle for a world title," Albert Pagara (29-1-0, 20 KOs) said. He will battle Laryea Gabriel Odoi (20-3-2, 14 KOs) of Accra, Ghana for the WBO intercontinental junior featherweight title in Pinoy Pride 44 in Maasin City, Southern Leyte. Albert's unblemished record and dream for a world title burst like a bubble when he tasted his first defeat at the hands of Cesar Juarez of Mexico by 8th round KO. It was a fight for the same WBO intercontinental junior featherweight title he will be clashing with Odoi. "This fight gives me an opportunity to recover from my shortcomings. Hopefully I can get back to the world rankings," declared Jason Pagara (40-3-1, 25 KOs). The elder Pagara lost to undefeated Hiroki Okada by 6th round TKO for the vacant World Boxing Organization Asia Pacific super lightweight title in Tokyo, Japan last December. Jason faces Wellem Reyk (19-18-4, 5 KOs) of Bogor, Indonesia. This will be a confidence-boosting fight as a tune up for bigger matches ahead. Before the loss to Okada, he had a split decision win over Kenya's James Onyango. "I want to give a good fight and score an impressive win. A victory will be sweeter with the WBO Oriental junior featherweight belt at stake," said Jeo Santisima (15-2-0, 13 KOs) who will face Likit Chane (16-5-0, 10 KOs) of Thailand. Santisima won both by 1st round TKO successively over Tanzania's Goodluck Mrema and Indonesia's Kichang Kim. The bout with Chane will be his first championship fight. ?King? Arthur Villanueva (31-3-0, 17 KOs) of Bago City, Negros Occidental fights Renren Tesorio (16-12-3, 4 KOs) of Taguig City, Metro Manila for 10 rounds in the 118lb. division. Villanueva once held the WBO Asia Pacific super flyweight title, the WBO international super flyweight title, the IBF international jr. bantamweight title, and the WBC international super flyweight title. Melvin Jerusalem (12-2, 7 KOs) of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon faces Philip Luis Cuerdo (10-4-1, 4 KOs) of Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila for 10 rounds in the 108lb. division. A Special Attraction will be fought by Go Hosaka, a Fil-Japanese boxer vs. Holly Quinones, a new recruit from General Santos City for 6 rounds in the 135lb. division. In the preliminary bouts, Joyjoy Formentera of Maribojoc, Bohol brawls with Lobert Bayo of Mandaue City for 6 rounds in the 116lb. division Jeno Macapobre of Toledo City fights Carlito Antaran of General Santos for 4 rounds in the 112lb. division. This morning the ALA boxers guested during the Maasin City Hall flag raising ceremony. This afternoon, they will have their public workout at the Anatalio Gaviola Plaza.
