NBA -- Timberwolves' second-half surge downs Clippers

MINNEAPOLIS . On Tuesday night (Wednesday morning Manila) in front of a crowd of 16,351 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, the Minnesota Timberwolves pulled away in the second half to pad their playoffs lead over the Los Angeles Clippers, 123-109.
The matchup was an important one, as the Timberwolves currently hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Entering the evening, the Clippers were on the outside looking in from the ninth position, but tonight's loss dropped them to tenth behind the Denver Nuggets.
The Timberwolves were lead by their centerpiece, Karl-Anthony Towns, in the scoring department with 30 points and 10 rebounds. Jeff Teague also banked a double-double with 20 points and 12 assists. Andrew Wiggins had a stellar night with 27 points, while birthday boy Jamal Crawford scored 20 points off the bench.
On a depleted Clippers team, DeAndre Jordan tallied a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Lou Williams and Sean Kirkpatrick each contributed 15 points off the bench.
The Timberwolves go on the road Friday for a matchup against the New York Knicks while the Clippers stay in the Midwest and meet the Indiana Pacers that same night.
