Ancajas' star shines brightly in Brisbane
By Epifanio M. Almeda PhilBoxing.com Sun, 02 Jul 2017
The steadily rising boxing star rose a level further up today in Brisbane, Australia.
IBF world junior bantanweight champion Jerwin Ancajas displayed the form worthy of his share of the 115-lb division crown. Jerwin dropped Teiru Kinoshita in the 7th round with a hard right to liver to successfully defend his title for the 2nd time. The referee ruled Kinoshita was unfit to continue the one-sided fight between southpaws.
It was Jerwin all the way as soon as the bell rang in the 1st round. Jerwin's left straight following a right jab cut Kinoshita's right eye brow in the 2nd round. As Jerwin landed his vaunted jab at will, Kinoshita's nose bled in the 3rd. Jerwin always beat Kinoshita to the punch in every round.
The same pattern of right jab-left-straight combinations followed by hard body shots weakened Kinoshita as the rounds progressed. In the 6th round, Kinoshita was ready go as the punishment took its toll on the outclassed Japanese.
The thudding right uppercut to Kinoshita's liver area midway in the 7th round knocked Kinoshita down leading to the referee's stopping the fight.
As ESPN carried the fight to a worldwide audience, Jerwin Ancajas is formally introduced to the boxing world as a star who is rising and already shining.
