NBA PLAYOFFS -- CELTICS-WIZARDS TUG-OF-WAR WILL BE SETTLED IN GAME 7
By Paolo Catapang PhilBoxing.com Mon, 15 May 2017
WASHINGTON -- The Washington Wizards and the Boston Celtics hate each other the way Ohio State hates Michigan. It's a bitter rivalry that makes sports so great.
On Monday night (Tuesday AM in Manila), the 2017 edition of this tug-of-war will be settled once and for all when the Celtics host the Wizards in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference semifinals at the TD Garden in downtown Boston. The winner will advance to the conference finals where the defending NBA champions Cleveland Cavaliers lie in wait.
Wizards point guard, John Wall, a 4-time All-Star playing in his 7th NBA season has been nothing short of phenomenal, averaging 27.9 points and 10.3 assists in 12 playoffs games thus far. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound product of the University of Kentucky is the spark that fuels Washington. But in order to seize this rubber match, Wall will need a lot of help from key teammates such as Avery Beal. Markieff Morris, Kelly Oubre and Marcin Gortat.
Either way, the Wizards have an uphill climb considering that the Celtics are 20-9 all-time in Game 7s while no Washington team has won a Game 7 in Boston since 1982. Also, there have been 126 Game 7s in the history of the NBA and the home team owns an 80 percent success rate, 101-26.
As for the Celtics, all roads go through Isaiah Thomas.
Let the excitement begin.
