NBA -- A Timberwolf wins Summer League MVP award
By Juvie Cabigon PhilBoxing.com Tue, 19 Jul 2016

LAS VEGAS -- Tyus Jones, a second year player with the Minnesota Timberwolves, bested this year's field of summer leaguers and was named MVP on Monday.
A Duke University alum, Jones was the 24th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft where he was snagged by the Cleveland Cavaliers before being shipped to the Timberwolves. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound guard appeared in 37 regular season games last season and averaged a modest 4.2 points and 2.9 assists per.
But the 2016 Summer League is his coming out party.
In seven games here in the desert, Jones averaged 19.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists. After a 0-3 start, Jones led the Timberwolves to four straight wins, propelling the 24th ranked Minnesota to the championship game against the Chicago Bulls on Monday night (Tuesday AM in Manila) at the Thomas and Mack Center.
This 2016 NBA Summer League was an 11-day affair that was participated in by 23 NBA teams plus a select team from the NBA D-League.
