NBA -- Raptors regain top form, beat Hawks, 104-96 By Mark Josef PhilBoxing.com Sat, 12 Mar 2016 TORONTO - After collapsing against the Houston Rockets last Sunday and almost falling to the lowly Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, the Toronto Raptors asserted their defensive might on Thursday night and beat the Atlanta Hawks, 104-96, at the Air Canada Centre. Toronto's dedense, which slipped to 26th in the league lately, has been a major concern for the Raptors for the past 10 games. But they righted the ship by holding the Hawks to 35 of 82 from the field (42.7 percent). Head coach Dwane Casey was pleased with his team's play. "Tonight we played solid defence, I thought we played solid in a grind it out game. It was a 48 minute effort against a very good team across the board" said Casey. DeMar DeRozan carried the Raptors with 30 points and 5 rebounds. This is DeMar's third 30 point game in the past 10 days. When asked about it DeRozan responded, "I don't even think about it, I just go out there and play, try to be aggressive and win the game." The bench was huge for Toronto again tonight. The quartet of Joseph, Patterson, Ross and Biyombo put Toronto on top of the Hawks for majority of the game. The four players scored a combined total of 33 points and pulled down 19 rebounds. Biyombo put a damper to the Hawks attempt at a run in the final minutes of the fourth quarter with a big block on Al Horford. Al Horford led the Hawks with 20 points and 4 rebounds. The Raptors were a plus 10 against the Hawks tonight whenever all four bench players were on the court. Photo: DeMar DeRozan defies two Hawks defenders.
