NBA -- ​IDAHO STAMPEDE SELECT JEFF AYRES WITH FIRST PICK OF 2015 NBA DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE DRAFT

- Jimmer Fredette Selected Second Overall by Westchester Knicks -

NEW YORK, OCT. 31, 2015 ? The Idaho Stampede selected Jeff Ayres (6-10, 240, Arizona St.) with the first overall pick of the 2015 NBA Development League Draft on Saturday afternoon from the league?s New York headquarters. Ayres played the last two seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, appearing in 51 games last season, and playing on the Spurs? championship team that defeated the Miami Heat in the 2014 NBA Finals.

The Westchester Knicks drafted Jimmer Fredette (6-2, 195, Brigham Young University) with the second overall pick and the Iowa Energy chose Perry Jones III (6-11, 235, Baylor) and Cartier Martin (6-3, 185, Kansas St.) with the third and fourth overall picks, respectively. Each of the top-four selections boast NBA experience.

Ohio St. saw former standouts Amir Williams (6-11, 250) and Sam Thompson (6?7, 200) selected back-to-back at sixth and seventh overall by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Grand Rapids Drive, respectively. The University of Memphis also saw two of their former student athletes selected in the first round with Rodney Carney (6?7, 205) selected 13th overall by the Oklahoma City Blue and Antonio Barton (6?2, 180) selected 15th overall by the Canton Charge.

NBA D-League training camp rosters will be comprised of players drafted today, along with returning, affiliate, draft-rights and local tryout players and cannot exceed 17 total players. Teams had to have selected at least five players in today?s Draft and all players who were selected must be invited to training camp.

For the fifth consecutive year, all 19 NBA D-League teams and the NBA D-League headquarters in New York participated in the Draft.
