LOS ANGELES -- A season of lows reached a new low for the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night at the Staples Center where the purple-and-gold franchise lost a franchise worst 56th game of the season.
Blake Griffin tallied 18 points and DeAndre Jordan controlled the middle with 16 points and 11 rebounds and the Los Angeles Clippers walloped the Lakers, 106-78.
Chris Paul only had 7 points but the ace point guard doled out a game-high 15 assists. Matt Barnes had 14 and J.J. Redick added 12 for the Clips, who shot 53.3 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from 3-point range.
Wesley Johnson had 16 for the Lakers, who finished just 29 of 75 from the field (38.7 percent) and 7-of-17 form 3-point range (41.2 percent).
"Obviously, losing doesn't sit well with me, period. So I'm not thinking about the record and all that stuff. It's just the fact the losing part doesn't sit well with me." Lakers head coach Byron Scott said.
With an improved 52-26 record, the Clippers moved to within half a game of the 50-26 Portland Trail Blazers for fourth place in the Western Conference.
