SAN FRANCISCO -- Kenneth Faried bullied his way to 24 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Denver Nuggets to a 114-103 victory over the visiting Golden State Warriors on Friday night at the Pepsi Center.
It was the Nuggets' third straight win and fifth in seven games since the dismissal of head coach Brian Shaw. And Faried credited his new coach, Melvin Hunt, for the team's swift turnaround.
"He's a great coach. He keeps everybody confident and wanting to play basketball and not wanting to give up on the season. He wants us to go out there and play basketball and have fun," Faried told ESPN.
Danilo Gallinari also racked up 24 points for Denver while Randy Foye added 20 and eight assists. Jameer Nelson tallied 17 and Wilson Chandler finished with 10 points as all Nuggets starters registered double figures in points.
Justin Holiday topped with 23 points for the Warriors, who played without Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Bogut and Andre Iguodala, who were all rested by head coach Steve Kerr.
The loss dropped the Warriors to 51-13, the best record overall in the NBA.
The Nuggets improved to 25-41 to stay in 12th place in the Western Conference.
