NBA -- Rose to have another surgery; season in doubt
By Homer D. Sayson PhilBoxing.com Thu, 26 Feb 2015

CHICAGO -- The beautiful promise of a championship season for the Chicago Bulls suffered a crippling blow late Tuesday night when the team announced that its franchise player, Derrick Rose, will undergo yet another knee surgery.
According to the Bulls' official release, an MRI confirmed that the 6-foot-3 point guard has sustained a medial meniscus tear in his right knee. It's the same injury Rose suffered last November 2013. A timeline for his return will be determined after surgery.
The latest setback follows an extensive injury for the immensely talented Rose, who was slowly but surely recapturing his old form after what have been a tumultuous three seasons.
Before tearing his meniscus in 2013, Rose tore the ACL in his left knee in 2012. He played in just 10 of 82 regular season games in 2013-14 and has seen the playoffs just once since 2011, his MVP season.
But things were looking up this season as Rose played in 46 of the Bulls' 57 games. And then this.
The No.1 pick in the 2008 NBA draft, the 26-year old Rose, a Chicago native, was chosen by the Bulls as the cornerstone of their franchise. Inked to a five-year, $94 million contract extension in 2011, Rose is making $18.6 million this season and will make $20 million next season and $21.3 million in 2016-17. (Homer D. Sayson)
