JASON PAGARA SHOWS FISTS OF FURY By Maloney L. Samaco PhilBoxing.com Mon, 09 Feb 2015 Jason Pagara proved he has the dreadful "Fists of Fury" when he battered the Mexican boxer called "El Dolar." Cesar Chavez now lost 8 bouts all by knockouts and displayed a style which definitely was no match to the Filipino WBO international junior welterweight titlist. Hungry for a world title fight, Jason stepped out of the shadow of his younger brother Albert, the undefeated IBF intercontinental junior featherweight champion. Both siblings were always compared with each other and The Prince was most of the time identified as the deadlier of the two because of his unblemished professional and amateur record. But during the Pinoy Pride 29 in Davao City, Jason showed the boxing global communities he too is a world championship caliber by punishing the visiting Mexican and ending the visitor's agony in just 1:56 of the second round. Called "El Ni?o" because he was hot as the long summer drought, Jason had vastly improved since his last fight with another Mexican Mario "Rocky" Meraz during Pinoy Pride 26 when referee Danrex Tapdasan stopped the bout in the 4th round which raised a howl of protest from the Mexican camp. Pagara now sets his sight to a world title stint. But his bosses at the ALA Gym wants to hone his skills further by training in the United States. He had a difficulty in finding competent spar mates in the Philippines because of his heavier weight class. The junior welterweight division unfortunately is crowded with superb talents. Undefeated Danny Garcia is the Ring, WBC and WBA champion. Lamont Peterson is the IBF champion while Chris Algieri just relinquished his WBO belt when he fought Manny Pacquiao for the WBO welterweight crown. Pagara sighted American Jessie Vargas with 26-0-0 and 9 KOs and ranked No. 6 by the Ring Magazine in their division. But Michael Aldeguer is not letting things happen for Jason in a hurry. The ALA management would want him to train with the best in San Diego, California where he will be sparring with the deadly American and Mexican boxers in the West Coast. Other Ring rated contenders in the junior welterweight are Lucas Matthysse of Argentina, Ruslan Provodnikov of Russia, Adrien Broner of USA, Viktor Postol of Ukraine, Khabib Allakhverdiev of Russia, Thomas Dulorme of Puerto Rico, and Mauricio Herrera of Mexico. Congratulations Jason Pagara from people of Maasin City. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Maloney L. Samaco. |
