EL NI?O VS. EL DOLAR IN PINOY PRIDE 29

PhilBoxing.com

Jason ?El Ni?o? Pagara will strive to prove that he is ready for a world title fight when he defends his World Boxing Organization international junior welterweight crown against Mexican Cesar ?El Dolar? Chavez as the main event of Pinoy Pride 29 slated February 7, 2015 at the University of Southern Philippines Gym in Davao City.

The elder Pagara?s showing in his fifth title defense will probe his performance level if it merits a chance to train in the United States for future more lucrative fights ahead.

He was able to watch the tapes of Chavez?s fights and he was confident of winning the 12-round match in the very popular boxing series this time dubbed as "Fists of Fury."

"I believe I can successfully prevail over Chavez with the way he fights in the videos," declared Pagara who has a record of 34-2 with 21 KOs. Chavez, on the other hand, is 24-7 with 12 KOs. All his 7 losses were by KOs.

Jason had his last fight on June 21, 2014. During that time, I was given a complimentary VIP ringside ticket by ALA Promotions to watch Pinoy Pride 26 featuring Pagara Brothers versus Mexicans at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino, Cebu City.

The Pride of Maasin City successfully defended his title against Mario ?Rocky? Meraz of Mexico. Pagara floored Meraz with a left and right combination to the head in the opening round. Meraz immediately got up and tried to match Pagara blow by blow.

Meraz was knocked out after a series of power punches delivered by Pagara. Meraz's camp complained when referee Danrex Tapdasan stopped the fight in the 4th round after the Mexican got up following his second knockdown. But the referee insisted that Meraz was groggy and was visibly hurt.

On August 18, 2012, Jason won the vacant WBO international junior welterweight championship when he dropped Mexican Rosbel Montoya three times, one in the opening round and twice in the third round. Referee Danrex Tapdasan stopped the fight at 1:41 of the sixth canto when Montoya received enough blows from Pagara causing the Mexican to scowl in pain.

The ?Hands of Stone from Barbados? Miguel Antoine is no match for the ?El Ni?o of the Philippines.? Antoine dropped to the canvas right on the very first round courtesy of the solid punches of Pagara during the Pinoy Pride 17 at the SM Mall of Asia on October 20, 2012.

Pagara successfully defended his title on May 25, 2013 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City. It was a convincing unanimous decision win over Aaron Herrera of Mexico.

"El Ni?o" also successfully defended his WBO belt with a lopsided unanimous decision over Vladimir Baez of the Dominican Republic. It was held during the mega boxing promotion Pinoy Pride 23 at the Araneta Coliseum on November 30, 2013.

Chavez's last fight was a 3rd round TKO win over fellow Mexican Luis Rey Campoa. One of his notable opponent was another Mexican Sergio Thompson who stopped him in the very first round. Thompson was the same fighter whom Adones Aguelo engaged in a WBC super featherweight title eliminator which lasted for 10 competitive rounds.
