CONGRATULATIONS CONG MANNY, YOU DID YOUR BEST!

PhilBoxing.com

"I did my best. Of course, I am satisfied with my performance," roared the mighty WBO world welterweight king Manny Pacquiao, who retained his title after dominating challenger Chris Algieri. "I came to fight. I did my best. I think that's enough."

The thousands of fans at the Cotai Arena at The Venetian Macau hollered in approval as the fighting congressman knocked "The King of New York" down six times enroute to a lopsided 120-102, 119-103, 119-103 unanimous decision win.

According to Compubox, Pacquiao outboxed Algieri landing 229 of 669 punches thrown for 34% compared to the American's 108 out of 469 punches for only 23%.

Before the fight, Algieri was averaging 88 punches per round in his last four outings. But against Pacquiao he was throwing only 32 punches per round, according to HBO. This only indicated how the GenSan champion commanded the bout connecting more powerful blows to the taller opponent from start to finish.

The elusive knockout did not happen though as the challenger was so evasive as to avoid being KO'd. "The master boxer was given a master class by Professor Pacquiao," Roach said. "I was disappointed by Algieri. All he did was run."

It has now been nine consecutive bouts that Pacquiao did not KO his opponent, the last being a 12th round KO win over Miguel Cotto in November 2009.

"Yes. I am looking for a knockout but he is fast and moving, so it's hard to get Chris," Pacquiao said.

Come December 17, the Saranggani Representative will be into a grand 36th birthday celebration and victory ball and the whole boxing world will rejoice with the only eight-division world champion.

"Manny is the best in the world, as Freddie said," Algieri said after the fight.

Amen to that Chris. And Floyd has to fight Manny if he would like to contest that statement.

Congratulations Congressman Manny Pacquiao! You did your best. And for us you are still the best.
