ROACH TELLS GIONGCO TO 'STOP MAKING STORIES'; TALKS ABOUT OSCAR AND MANNY By Anthony 'Duljoman' Andales PhilBoxing.com Fri, 13 Apr 2007 Little Rock, AR -- "I am obliged to train Oscar and Manny. They're both very professional and very hardworking boxers." Those are the exact words from Freddie Roach. He will remain as Oscar's trainer after May 5. And Oscar is very intrigued about the Philippines because Freddie told him all the good things like Boracay and the famous and historical "Colon Street". But I asked Freddie, how about the bad things? He asked me, you tell the bad things Duljoman? and I simply replied "POLITICS". I told him that there's already one congressional candidate who died of an ambush. Roach said, I dont like that too. Without discussing about Pacman's political aspirations, he just continued to say, "He's a grown-up man and he knows what to do." Then I threw a difficult question. What if there's going to be another conflicting dates on Oscar and Manny's training? Is he going to give Oscar more priority? Roach said, not like that Anthony, prior to training Oscar, Manny gave me his blessings, and he told me that he's very happy for me. And Manny understands also that Dela Hoya/Mayweather fight is a very big fight. But if ever there'll be another conflict of dates, I'll invite Manny again to train with Oscar, besides they are good friends also, they can work together with me. And if we can avoid conflicting dates that would be the first thing to do. Regarding this situation right now, Arum chooses the date for him to "measure" my loyalty to Manny. He didn't know that Manny told me to accept the fight. Manny is my boy, and I love the kid, he inspires a lot of boxers in my gym. He' a role model for younger fighters. Thats why I'll be in his corner on April 14. And you can tell that guy who's trying to create a story between me and Justin to stop making stories. As my friend Atan told me... Be bold!!! Happy Birthday to William Mari Ylanan and Kian Erika Ylanan of Don Pablo Ylanan's compound in Duljo. ***** The whole Fearless card's outcome was absurd and extremely poor in scoring. And Freddie Roach also said that he was very sorry for Gerry to be involved and to be a victim of that night's unexplainable scorecards. But not everybody was blind, Gerry Penalosa's masterful boxing did not go unnoticed. A rematch with Daniel Ponce de Leon is good but if Boom2x wins his fight on May 5, the opening fight for the PPV of the "World Awaits", then Boom2x would be the mandatory fight for Ponce De Leon, and that leaves Gerry's wish a far-fetched one. Instead, Roach is also trying to negotiate for Gerry to fight Jhonny Gonzales for the 118lbs crown. Roach told me that he and GBP are still amazed by Gerry's style. And they still believe that Gerry can be a threat at 115's, 118's and 122's. Is Gerry old? I asked Roach, and Roach told me that "indeed, the younger one ran for his dear life in the last 3 rounds." Hello to the Michigan Boys, Ramon Cerdan Junior, Joel Pantino, Jimmy Petersen and Eng'g Brigade's Marvy Dumadag... Congratulations to my friend Kelly Williams for a successful start in PBA, he's coached by my good friend Jonas Pzon of Ford Motors and he's assisted by the Duljoman. Kumbatea!
