AGUELO SINGWANGCHA KO'S RAY IN ABF TITLE FIGHT By Maloney L. Samaco PhilBoxing.com Wed, 12 Nov 2014 Adones Aguelo Singwangcha made a short workout of his Indonesian foe Elly Ray knocking him out in the second round in 25 seconds to successfully defend his Asian Boxing Federation lightweight crown last night at the Maasin City Gym. Aguelo found the range as early as the first round targeting the soft tummy of the visiting opponent. He dropped Ray on his knees but the Indonesian was quick to get up breaking the referee's count. In the next round the Maasin City native hit the same stomach which weakened the legs of the challenger and was not able to get up. "It's a great pleasure for me winning over my opponent before hometown fans," said Aguelo who prevailed in the scheduled 12-rounder. "I noticed of his weak middle body and took advantage of it," referring to the fallen visitor. Another Maasin City boxer Michael Kaibigan floored his opponent twice, once every round, to win by TKO over Marlon Talili of Bohol. Kaibigan unleashed a powerful straight to the head of Talili to end the fight at 2:54 of the second round in the scheduled 6-rounder. In the supporting event, Jhoas Aparecio gave Marvin Tampus of Bato, Leyte a good fight but failed to convince all the judges. Tampus, the only Singwangcha boxer who was not able to snatch a win, received a flurry of blows from Aparecio in the middle rounds, but complained of low blows dealt by the Bukidnon foe. The fight ended in a split draw, 97-93, 94-96, and 95-95 in ten rounds. Canoy Singwangcha of Gensan won by unanimous decision over Lester John Pronco of Bukidnon, 97-91 twice and 98-90 in ten rounds. Renoel Pael Singwangcha of Matalom, Leyte won by TKO at the start of the 4th round over Arnel Tadena of Bohol in a eight rounder. Elias Joaquino Singwangcha of Siargao won by TKO 55 seconds in the first round over Melchor Abcede of Bohol. Naris Singwangcha, the manager of the boxers, came all the way from Thailand to watch the fights. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Maloney L. Samaco. |
