OAKLAND -- Klay Thompson dropped 40 points on Sunday night to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 117-105 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers at the Oracle Arena.

It was Thompson's second consecutive 40-point output, helping the defending champion Warriors extend their home winning streak to 53, an amazing run that dates back to last season. Thompson's Splash Brother, reigning NBA MVP Steph Curry, had a quiet 20 points and eight assists as he went only 2-of-9 from beyond the arc.

Draymond Green finished with another triple-double (13 points, 11 boards and 11 dimes), his 12th of the season and a franchise record. Draymond trails only Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder for the most triple-doubles registered this season.

Philadelphia came out of the gates on fire and led by former Warrior Carl Landry's 22 points and 8 boards the Sixers went to-to-toe with the Warriors in the opening quarter before eventually running out of the gas. Ish Smith also scored 20 points, 10 assist a solid double-double effort to help pace the Philadelphia 76ers.

But Golden State was simply too much as it soared to 35-0 at home this season.

"Coming down the floor, they're always looking to rise up," Sixers coach Brett Brown told reporters post-game. You're just afraid of this barrage of points, 3s, all of that... Speights came in and that's a big man that can shoot too."

Speights played more minutes as of late for the injured center Festus Ezeli (left knee surgery) energized the Warriors on the 2nd quarter with his 2 put backs and big 2 buckets from behind the arc out scoring the 76ers 24 to 39 to give the Warriors 16 points lead at the half.

At 66-7, the Warriors are seven wins away from breaking 95-96 Chicago Bulls record of 72 wins in a regular season with only 9 games left. Warriors will host the Wizards next on Tuesday March 29th.

76ers will head home to face the Hornets on Tuesday March 19th. (JSM)
