NBA -- Bulls overhaul 21-point deficit to beat Nuggets
By Kevin Gonzalez PhilBoxing.com Wed, 15 Oct 2014
CHICAGO --The Chicago Bulls overcame a 21-point deficit to beat Denver Nuggets Monday night at the United Center.
Jimmy Butler collected 21 points and six rebounds to pace the Bulls' rally while rookie Doug McDermott added 16 points, including a 3-for-4 fare from 3-point range.
After an 0-2 start in preseason play, Bulls have evened their slate to 2-2. On Saturday in Milwaukee, the Bulls also pocketed a 91-85 win.
No thanks to a poor start, the Bulls trailed the Nuggets, 50-29, with still 5:29 left in the second quarter. But Chicago cam to life and unleashed a 29-8 run that knotted the count at 58-58 at halftime.
Denver never recovered from Chicago's relentless assault, falling behind for good in the third quarter, where the Bulls went on a 25-17 tear. The Bulls then finished the show with a 27-point fourth quarter blast which delighted a thick Columbus Day crowd of 21,503.
Derrick Rose missed 8 of 12 field goals to finish with 15 points and five assists. Taj Gibson also had 15 points with four rebounds while Nikola Mirotic chipped in 12.
Kenneth Faried led a balanced Nuggets offense with 19 points. Jusuf Nurkic tallied 15 points while Timofey Mozgoz and Arron Afflalo each had 10 points.
