There are various different martial arts which teach the submission skills that fighters require to be able to compete successfully in the cage but BJJ is universally regarded as the most effective and the most competitive. Most BJJ practitioners aspire to eventually become a black belt but to achieve this accolade takes almost a decade and requires an equivalent amount of time and dedication to becoming a medical doctor or academic professor.
