NBA -- D-Rose donates a cool $1 million to charity

CHICAGO - Since joining the NBA as the top overall pick in the 2008 draft, Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose has since issued 1,954 assists in his young but decorated career.
On Wednesday, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound point guard gave the biggest assist to his community.
As reported by the Chicago Tribune, the former MVP gave $1 million to After School Matters, a charity "that arranges out-of-school apprentices for teens."
"To have a strong community of people who believe in your potential can make all the difference in the world. So many people have invested in me and I want to do the same for Chicago's teens," Rose said in a statement.
No thanks to a torn ACL in 2012 followed by a torn meniscus injury in 2013, the 25-year old Rose has played only 49 games in the past two regular seasons.
Rose is a Chicago native, who grew up in Englewood, a few miles from the heart of downtown. His comeback this season is highly anticipated by the Bulls and their fans, as well as the entire NBA.
