ROMAN GONZALEZ STOPS YAEGASHI TO CAPTURE WBC FLYWEIGHT TITLE

Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez of Nicaragua captured the WBC flyweight title as well as the Ring Lineal Flyweight title when he beat Akira Yaegashi of Japan by technical knockout in the ninth round on Friday at Yoyogi Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.
According the report from AP, Gonzalez dominated Yaegashi, putting him down the first time in round three. After the second knock down in the ninth, with an uppercut, the referee stopped the bout.
Gonzalez improved to 40-0 with 34 knockouts, while Yaegashi dropped to 20-4 with 10 KOs. Gonzalez has also won the WBA light flyweight minimumweight titles.
