JOEL SAPNIO vs JESUS SANCHEZ REMATCH FRIDAY IN FAIRFIELD, CA.

PhilBoxing.com

Fairfield, Calif -- Filipino Boxing Prospect Joel "The Quiet Storm" Siapno (L) and Jesus Sanchez (R) weighed in for their upcoming junior middleweight rematch at the Allan Witt Sports Center in Fairfield this coming Friday.

Both fighters made their contracted weight 152 lbs; Siapno initially came in at 152.5 lbs. but was able to make the weight after removing his boxers.

"We both look great. We both are in shape," Siapno said in regards to his opponent, who defeated him by a controversial split decision at the Longshoremen's Hall in San Francisco last month.

According to his trainer Arvin Jugarap, who is the nephew of Nonito Donaire Sr. and a disciple of the Donaire System boxing style, Siapno has learned a lot since suffering his first defeat to Sanchez.

"Training camp was great. For Joel's rematch, we made a lot of adjustments," said an enthusiastic Jugarap, who is the owner of the Kennel Boxing Gym. "We fixed a lot of the things we needed to fix. He is ready to go."

According to Siapno, he has been implementing his improved game plan on his main sparring partner Mauricio Zavaleta, who is also trained by Jugarap and is also fighting on the same boxing card tomorrow night.

"I learned a lot in my first fight. From that, we made some adjustments," said a confident Siapno. "Even though it's only been a month, we made some good adjustments. We have been effective with it."

Siapno, who postponed his nursing career to pursue his dream of becoming a professional boxer, says he still feels little bitter since losing his pro debut.

"He (Sanchez) took the victory from me, so this is the fight that I really want. I'm really looking forward till tomorrow," the San Leandro native said. " I'm looking for my opponent to bring his best and I'm looking to bring my best also."

Siapno (0-1) and Sanchez (1-0) will be on the undercard of the Manuel Avila vs Sergio Frias fight, which is being presented by Golden Boy Promotions, Don Chargin Productions, and Paco Presents. The Avila Frias fight will be broadcasted on Fox Sports 1.
