NBA -- Ebola scare cancels Team USA trip to Senegal

MIAMI -- With the Ebola virus ravaging throughout West Africa, the US men's national basketball team, which is made up of NBA stars, has canceled its planned trip to Senegal.
"I speak for all at USA Basketball when I say we're extremely disappointed we will not be able to visit Senegal. Our entire traveling party was very much looking forward to the experience," USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo told multiple media outlets on Friday,
According to ESPN's Marc Stein, "more than 1,000 deaths attributed to Ebola have been recorded since March in four West African countries: Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Nigeria."
Team USA was scheduled to visit on August 27 and conduct a series of clinics and tours. But given the devastating health scare that has claimed so many lives Angelo said the trip was risk they "cannot take."
Team USA currently in Chicago holding a 2-day workout at the Quest Multisport facility neat downtown before facing Brazil in an exhibition game Saturday night at the United Center. (JC).
