(July 22, 2014) -- Former world lightweight champion and pound-for-pound all-action fighter BRANDON "Bam Bam" RIOS and 2012 Trainer of the Year ROBERT GARCIA will host an Oxnard Media Workout Tomorrow! Wednesday, July 23 at the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy (1451 Pacific Ave., Oxnard, Calif. 93003). Interviews will take place, before the workout, at Noon PT. Rios (31-2-1, 22 KOs), from Oxnard, the former WBA lightweight champion, is deep in training for his 2014 debut -- a 10-round welterweight battle against power-punching Top-10 contender and one-time interim world champion DIEGO "La Joya" CHAVES (23-1, 19 KOs), of Buenos Aires. Rios vs. Chaves will headline HBO Boxing After Dark?, televised live on Saturday, August 2, from The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, beginning at 9:45 p.m. ET/PT. The telecast will also feature undefeated WBA super lightweight champion "The Pride of Las Vegas" JESSIE VARGAS (24-0, 9 KOs), of Las Vegas, NV, in his first title defense, against undefeated contender ANTON "The Pick Hammer" NOVIKOV (29-0, 10 KOs), of Kopeysk, Russia.
