JASON PAGARA HEATS UP
PhilBoxing.com Wed, 11 Jun 2014

Jason ?El Nino? Pagara is ready to turn the heat up as he headlines the next big Philippine boxing event.
In "Pinoy Pride 26: Fists of the Future", he stars with his younger brother, ?Prince? Albert Pagara, to take on Mexican adversaries visiting the islands and try getting the two up on the storied cross-continental boxing rivalry.
The event is to be held in Cebu City, at the local boxing landmark, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
?Jason is one of the fighters being talked about for years,? opened ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer for the former unified national boxing champion.
On June 21, via ABS-CBN and The Filipino Channel, fight fans and Filipinos across the country and the world will witness him display his impressive 33-2 record, with 20 KOs, along with an international title, for which Mario Meraz challenges.
The hometown-based Pagara may have more knockouts than the Baja California Mexican, and while he stated that viewers should ?expect a knockout in this fight?, Meraz is the one who holds a 70% KO percentage.
Meraz (20-3, 16 KOs) is also known as ?Rocky?, a common boxing alias, perhaps as an allusion to his punching power. Nine of his knockouts had occurred in the first round.
Pagara, who is ranked #3 by the WBO at 140 lbs., should be wary of that fact but he confidently stated, ?I believe I can beat him 100 percent. I have studied his style.?
After losing only his second bout at the same venue in 2011, he has since redeemed himself twice. Meanwhile, Meraz is on a roll of his own, only one less with five straight.
Something?s got to give for the WBO International Light Welterweight title.
?This fight will be a big test for Jason?, Aldeguer said.
