FORMER HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION KLITSCHKO ELECTED MAYOR OF KIEV

Former world heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko has been elected Mayor of Kiev which is the capital of Ukraine
with exit polls showing Klitschko enjoying an overwhelming lead over seven other candidates.
At one time Klitschko who was one of the leaders in the protests that brought down the reign of former Ukrainian President
Viktor Yanukovych and was at one time considered as a candidate for president himself, but he withdrew and announced his support
for billionaire Petro Poroshenko who appeared headed to winning in the presidential race in the first round.
The towering Klitschko was quoted saying "All change will begin in Kiev," after he garnered some 57 percent of the exit polls in the capital city.
Klitschko who is regarded as a boxer-statesman and a soft-spoken intellectual in the world of boxing was Ukraine's most popular figure at the height of the street protests that eventually toppled the Russian-backed regime in Ukraine.
Behind the nickname "Ironfist" is a gentle giant fluent in several languages and a holder of a Phd. The 43 year old Vitali had a career record of 45-2 with 41 knockouts. In his last fight Klitschko scored a 4th round TKO over previously undefeated Manuelk Charr to retain his WBC title.
Vitali along with younger brother Wladimir, nicknamed "Dr. Steelhammer" held all the world's heavyweight titles until Vitali retired last year to focus on his political career as a reformist and a supporter of democracy and has been in the forefront of the campaigm against corruption which enabled his party named UDAR or "Punch" to a surprising third place finish in the 2012 parliamentary elections in Ukraine.2012
