OCON BEATEN IN WBC ASIAN BOXING COUNCIL TITLE REMATCH

The Philippines Fernando Ocon has lost in a rematch for the WBC Asian Boxing Council bantamweight championship against champion Suriyan Sor Rungvisai in Nonthaburi, Thailand.
Suriyan, the 25 year old former WBC super flyweight champion who won the title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Nobuo Nashiro on November 4, 2011 and lost it in his first defense against Yota Sato of Japan who won a twelve round unanimous decision after dropping Suriyan twice in round three on March 27, 2012.
The Thai champion had won the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council title with a 4th round knockout of Indonesia?s Ricky Manufoe on October 2, 2012 forced Ocon to retire in the 7th round to improve his record to 36-5-1 with 16 knockouts.
Ocon, a 23 year old southpaw rated No. 8 by the ABC and had lost to Suriyan in their first meeting on January 21 this year by a twelve round unanimous decision dropped to 12-7 with 4 knockouts.
He had also lost in a WBO Oriental title fight to Kwanpichit Onesongchai Gym by a twelve round unanimous decision on August 24, 2012.
