AUSTRALIAN ?BRILLIANT BRANDON? OGILVIE SETS NAN YANG CITY, CHINA A LIGHT WITH MASTER CLASS PERFORMANCE

PhilBoxing.com

Brandon Ogilvie has returned to his Brilliant ways and has rekindled his boxing career in the unlikely setting of central China tonight.

Ogilvie (6-1) boxed beautifully against the hardnosed Indonesian Eddy Comaro (27-19-5) and skillfully outsmarted and outboxed the Indonesian.

Comaro has had 51 pro fights compared to Ogilvie?s seven. Last time out the 28-year-old Comaro lost to Michael Katsidis in three rounds.

?He?s a tough boy who came to fight tonight and what a warrior he is,? Ogilvie said.

The 20-year-old ogilvies confidence took a dent after his stoppage loss to John Ford in Perth last November.
Ogilvie hit the canvas twice before being pulled out on the doctor?s advice in the third round.

The Australian says the manner in which he lost his unbeaten record made him take stock ? and the first move he has made is dropping down a division to lightweight to face experienced Indonesian Eddy Comaro at the Nan Yang City Gymnasium in Henan tonight.

?In hindsight I should have been fighting at 61 (61.2kg lightweight limit) but for the first two years I wasn?t taking it that serious. But the last fight I had really woke me up and now I?m down at my true weight division,? Ogilvie said.
?It took a bit of time to get down (from light-welter) but it?s a smarter move. I feel a lot bigger and stronger at this weight division, more comfortable.

?I had to rebuild my confidence a bit. A lot of good sparring and being around a lot of good people helped. Sparring was the main thing to build me back up.

An exciting amateur, Ogilvie made his pro debut on a packed Danny Green show in July 2012. His skills quickly caught the eye and therein lies part of the problem.

?I have been relying on my natural ability, just going into it fit and using my natural ability to get me over the line,? he said.

?Now I?m boxing a lot smarter. Training twice a day, getting my distance and range and picking my shots a lot smarter, a thing I was lacking. And my defence is coming along as well.

?I?ve sat down with my coach and we talked through a lot of things. I?ve got a great team with me now and I?m looking forward. Living boxing, eating boxing, breathing boxing.
?I think we?ve got six fights, maybe seven fights, planned before the year is over,? Ogilvie said. ?There?s a plan to keep me active, to keep me on my toes and sharp.

?Maybe in the next year or two a title fight might come along. But no rush, I?m still young and developing through the processes.?

Ogilvie will be on Dragon Fire?s Thunderdome VI card at Metro City in Perth on June 20, along with Luke ?Razor? Sharp, Irish Darragh ?Super? Foley, John ?The Don? Squillace, Sam Hogan & Wes Capepr.
