MORE BOUTS ADDED TO THE M?RQUEZ - ALVARADO UNDERCARD AT THE "FABULOUS" FORUM PhilBoxing.com Tue, 06 May 2014  Saturday, May 17 New Start Time will be 3:15 P.M. PT INGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA ? Boxing's return to the Forum (3900 West Manchester Blvd., Inglewood, Calif. 90305) will start a little sooner than originally announced. The historic inaugural brawl on Saturday May 17, featuring four-division world champion and M?xican icon JUAN MANUEL ?Dinamita? M?RQUEZ battling former junior welterweight world champion and the pride of Colorado ?Mile High? MIKE ALVARADO in the main event, will now start at a new earlier time -- 3:15 p.m. PT, with doors opening at 3:00 p.m. PT. "We wanted to make boxing's return to the Forum something special for the fans and the best way to do that was to add more bouts to the undercard. We expect more than 10 bouts on this show," said Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum. "However, since M?rquez-Alvarado will be televised live on HBO?, we needed to push the start time of the undercard up to 3:15 p.m. to accommodate all the fights." M?rquez (55-7-1, 40 KOs), of M?xico City, a longtime Forum stalwart who never lost a fight at the legendary boxing venue, and Alvarado (34-2, 23 KOs), of Denver, CO., will collide in a 12-round World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title elimination bout. The M?rquez-Alvarado welterweight rumble will be televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing?, beginning at 10:15 p.m. ET/PT. The winner will be declared the mandatory challenger to WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. M?rquez and Alvarado boast a combined record of 89-9-1 (63 KOs) -- a winning percentage of 90% and a victory by knockout ratio of 71%. The undercard will be announced shortly.
