SAN FRANCISCO -- Kyle Lowry erupted for 36 points to lead the Toronto Raptors to a 115-113 victory over the Brooklyn Nets in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinals Wednesday night at the Air Canada Centre.
The victory put Toronto ahead in the best-of-7 series, 3-2. Game 6 is Friday night (Saturday AM in Manila) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
All-Star DeMar DeRozan finished with 23 for Toronto while teammates Jonas Valaciunas and and Greveis Vasquez finished with 16 and 15 points, respectively.
Trailing by as many as 26 points, the Nets went on a 32-8 run to knot the count at 101-101 with still 3:16 remaining in the fourth quarter. But it wasn't enough as Toronto moved one game away from Round 2 where the two-time defending champions Miami Heat await.
Joe Johnson led the Nets with 30 points, Deron Williams whipped 13 and 9 assists, and Mirza Teletovic had 17.
Brooklyn lost despite shooting 40 of 75 form the field (53.3 percent) and 11 of 23 from 3-point range (47.8 percent). (JSM)
