Ceres-La Salle FC prepares for AFC President?s Cup

PhilBoxing.com

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines -- With less than a month left before this year?s AFC President?s Cup kicks off on May 6-10, 2014 at the Panaad Park and Stadium, the Ceres ? La Salle FC are currently in tough preparation as they battle the best teams in this tournament.

The Ceres ? La Salle FC is in Group B along with some of the strongest teams in the tournament namely: FC HTTU of Turkmenistan, Tatung Company of Chinese Taipei and Rimyongsu Club of the People?s Republic of Korea (North Korea).

?As our province once again is task to host an international event ? the AFC President?s Cup. It?s an opportunity for us, Negrenses, to show our support to our very own Ceres-La Salle FC,? said Nicolas Golez, Local Organizing Committee Chairman.

?This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for us to display our patriotism as Ceres-La Salle FC will not only represent Bacolod and the province but, the Philippines,? he added.

Meanwhile, to ensure that the club is ready to match the quality of game by their Asian counterparts, the Ceres ? La Salle FC recently signed up Patrick Reichelt, Carli de Murga, Angeles twins ? Marvin and Marwin, Arnie Pasinabo, and German Kevin Capolei.

?With the addition of these players, we know that it can help boost the team in this tournament,? Golez said.

Moreover, lots of conditioning is also being done among the players ? physically and mentally.

The players are currently undergoing gym trainings to prepare themselves for physical games against the opponents ? knowing the physiques of players from Turmenistan, Korea and Chinese Taipei. Further, they are also conditioned mentally not to be inferior with their opponents and focus on their games.

For the match venue preparation, Golez stressed that as LOC, they are also making sure that Panaad Park and Stadium meets the AFC requirement. ?There are lots of things to do to comply with what the AFC requires. Based on the AFC requirement, the venue should have at four dressing rooms, which we are working right now,? the LOC Chairman said.

?We would like to thank the Yanson family, especially Ceres-La Salle FC owner and manager Leo Rey, for the support they have extended to us in making this event a memorable one,? Golez said. ?We want to make sure that we manage the event well so that after this event, people will think of coming back to Bacolod and Negros Occidental,? he added.

?We would also like to extend our gratitude to Gov. Alfredo Maranon Jr. and the provincial government for its full support to this event.? (WATCHMEN DAILY JOURNAL)
