NBA -- Bucks succumb to Rockets By Marco Del Castillo PhilBoxing.com Mon, 10 Feb 2014 MILWAUKEE -- In a failed attempt to improve on their NBA-worst record of the season, the 9-41 Milwaukee Bucks bowed to the Houston Rockets, 101-95, Saturday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. The hyped match-up between the Bucks' Larry Sander and the Rockets' Dwight Howard, who had an impressive stat comparison last month in Houston, was less than stellar this time around. Sanders left the game with 7:37 left in the first quarter after taking an elbow in the face and had troubled getting up from the blow. He did not return to the game due to blurred vision. Howard dominated with 27 points on 11-for-19 shooting plus 13 rebounds and 2 blocks. Howard, who flexed his muscle on the low post, told this writer after the game that he is pleased to be in Houston and is enjoying the role of guiding his younger teammates in a grueling regular season schedule. He said he understands the fact that his positive influence and experience will be significant to the growth of his team. James Harden added 22 points, 10 in the third quarter, while Jeremy Lin chipped in 18, with 11 points coming off the bench in the first half. The Bucks came close a few times in the game including a 16-7 run in the opening half to put them behind only by 2 points 63-61. Nate Wolters, scored 7 of his career-high 19 points. A 10-2 Bucks run brought them to within three and threatened to send the game into overtime. Three free throws by Kris Middleton, who was fouled behind the arc with 46.6 seconds left in the game, pushed Milwaukee to within 95-98, but Brandon Knight failed to score to put the pressure on Houston. A Howard and a pair of free throws sealed the game for the Rockets. ? We missed a couple of shots and then we fouled the 3-point shooter. They dug into the lead a little bit. I?m just glad we got that win. That was not our best game. We had a lot of possessions offensively where we didn?t move the ball, and defensively, they kind of got what they wanted there for a while. We had some good stops and some good runs inside the game,? Rockets head coach Kevin McHale told reporters after the game. Howard acknowledged the talent of the young and injury-stricken Bucks team while Harden said Milwaukee's record doesn't reflect the team's talent. Brandon Knight score 23 points and 5 assists. Khris Middleton, 20 points and Nate Wolters with 19. The Rockets matched their season-high fifth straight win this season placing them fifth in the Western Conference with a 34-17 record. (MDC).
