2026 NBA Finals: Knicks Steal Game 1 in San Antonio 105-95

PhilBoxing.com

Tagbilaran City, Bohol – Jalen Brunson fired 30 points and Karl-Anthony Towns had a double-double of 18 markers and 12 boards to lead the Eastern Conference champions New York Knicks in a Game 1 victory over their Western Conference counterparts San Antonio Spurs 105-95 on Wednesday night (Thursday morning, Philippine time) of their best-of-seven NBA Finals series at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. New York rallied from 14 points down in the second half to extend their consecutive playoff winning streak to 14 games.

OG Anunoby had 17 and Landry Shamet added 13 points, including three treys off-the-bench for the Knicks, who have stolen home court advantage for the series.

French phenom Victor Wembanyama stuffed the stats sheets with 26 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 3 blocks, but only shot 6-for-21 from the field, including 2-for-9 from deep for San Antonio. Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson did an excellent job bodying Wembanyama up all night, making life difficult for the reigning Western Conference Finals MVP in the shaded lane.

Spurs Filipino-American rookie Dylan Harper ignited a rally in the middle of the first quarter that snatched the early lead from the Knicks. He finished with 16 markers and 8 boards. Stephon Castle and Julian Champagnie added 17 and 16, respectively for the San Antonio.

DeAaron Fox, the Spurs highest paid player, however only scored 7 points on an abysmal 3-for-13 shooting from the field, including 0-for-4 from the rainbow territory. He also committed 3 turnovers and had 5 personal fouls.

Game 2 is scheduled on Friday night (Saturday morning, Philippine time) still at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.
