Brico Santig: "Michael Koncz Has Nothing to do with Boxer Ernie Sanchez" By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Sun, 09 Feb 2014 Koncz. In a letter to Top Rank's matchmaker Brad Goodman dated February 8, Filipino boxing manager Brico Santig, the current legal representative of boxer Ernie Sanchez (14-5, 5 KO's), makes clear that controversial boxing adviser Michael Koncz "has nothing to do" with Ernie Sanchez's fighting career. The 22-year-old super featherweight Ernie Sanchez of General Santos City - who comes from losing his last two fights in Mexico - is scheduled to battle for 10 rounds against WBO/IBF world-rated Diego Magdaleno (24-1, 9 KO's) this coming Saturday (Feb 15) in the main event of Top Rank's televised card at the C. Robert Lee Activity Center in Hawaiian Gardens, California; and, according to Brico Santig, Michael Koncz is intruding into things. "I am hoping that we will not get swayed and influenced by persons not related in this transaction, including Michael Koncz, who seems to be using his supposedly close relationship with Manny Paquiao to pursue his interest, whatever that is," argues Filipino Brico Santig, the winner of last year's WBC ABCO Asian Promoter of the Year award. Interestingly enough, Goodman agrees with Santig. In his reply, Top Rank's Brad Goodman specifically says to Brico Santig today: "I agree with you 100%. You guys did nothing wrong." Read full content of Santig's letter to Brad Goodman: Dear Mr. Goodman: With your indulgence, Michael Koncz has nothing to do with Ernie Sanchez's deal with Top Rank because first and foremost I am the legitimate manager of Sanchez as proven by my credentials from the Philippine's Games and Amusement Board (GAB). If Mr. Arum wants to cancel the fight of Ernie Sanchez vs Diego Magdaleno in California, it is his prerogative. I have no intention of suing, but I just want my fighter (Ernie Sanchez) to get what's due to him. I am hoping that we will not get swayed and influenced by persons not related in this transaction, including Mr Koncz who seems to be using his supposedly close relationship with Manny Paquiao to pursue his interest, whatever that is. Again, I stand by my boxer (Sanchez) and would protect him as his duly recognized manager. The contract was signed, then the GAB has given its green light and plane tickets are already at hand. To me, it's a done deal that must be honored. Ernie has prepared for his upcoming fight and trained very hard for it. I hope we will not quash someone's dream just to accede to caprices of some people. If Manny Paquiao wants to be happy, other people deserves to be happy too, without stepping on the rights of others. And please, let us be honorable men. Long live boxing! Thank you for your support!
