NBA -- Wolves take a bite out of Bulls
By Kelly Manalo PhilBoxing.com Wed, 29 Jan 2014
CHICAGO --The Chicago Bulls were as cold as the weather outside, losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves, 95 to 86, Monday night at the United Center.
The Bulls played without their All-Star center Joakim Noah, who was a game time decision but left the arena with illness.
Without Noah, Chicago struggled throughout the entire game to find their rhythm as they only shot 37 percent from the field and failed to get key defensive stops with their defensive leader inactive
.
Once the Timberwolves took the lead in the first quarter they never relinquished it. Superstar Kevin Love played an excellent game scoring 31 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Reserve center Ronny Turiaf chipped in 14 points off the bench.
Chicago was led by Carlos Boozer who scored 20 points but on 9 for 24 from the field. Boozer struggled throughout the game only shooting 1 for 8 in the first quarter.
DJ Augustin added 19 points as he continues to be a bright spot for Chicago. Three other Bulls scored in double figures, but it was not enough as every time a run was in the works, Minnesota was able to counter with a big play.
The Bulls only had 3 points in 6 minutes of play in the fourth quarter, but the Timberwolves couldn?t extend the lead much only to 8 points. DJ Augustin finally hit a long range 3 to cut the lead to 5, but Minnesota went to their go to guy Kevin Love to seal the game when he scored an easy lay in to end the game.
Chicago will try to get back on track Wednesday night when they travel to San Antonio to take on the Spurs. Minnesota will go back home to face the New Orleans Pelicans after being on the road for 4 straight games. (KM)
