NBA -- Bulls brace for rival Heat's visit By Marco Del Castillo PhilBoxing.com Fri, 06 Dec 2013 CHICAGO -- In one of the fiercest rivalries in the Eastern Conference, the Chicago Bulls will square off with the two-time defending champions Miami Heat Thursday night at the United Center. Tip off is 8:30 pm local time, 10:30 am in Manila. The match-up will be televised nationally by cable network TNT Sports. The Heat hope to return to their triumphant ways after the Detroit Pistons snapped their 10-game win streak Tuesday night with a mild 107-97 upset at the American Airlines Arena in Miami. The Rose-less Bulls, meanwhile, will fearlessly attempt to arrest a two-game slide. Since Rose's season-ending injury at the Moda Center in Portland last Nov. 22, the Bulls have struggled with a 1-4 record. They are currently 7-9 in the overall standings, a meager 43 percent winning percentage and just 7th place in the East Conference. Miami, on the other hand, is 14-4, a mighty 77.8 winning clip. Averaging 27.4 points a game, Luol Deng is expected to carry most of the Bulls' offensive load, but he will need ample help from Carlos Boozer, Joakim Noah and Kirk Hinrich. Also, the Bulls stingy defense must step up more so that starting 2-guard Jimmy Butler will sit out with a turf toe. Unlike the injury-ravaged Bulls, the Heat will storm the United Center in full force led by their leader, reigning league MVP LeBron James. After sitting out with a sore knee against the Pistons, Dwyane Wade is expected to suit up alongside Chris Bosh and the rest of the Miami starters. The last time both teams played was on Opening Night last October 30 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami where the Heat pummeled the Bulls, 107-95. Lebron (no surprise here) led that onslaught with 17 points, six rebounds and eight assists. The Bulls are in for a tough fight but head coach Tom Thibodeau's chargers are ready to defend their home floor. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Marco Del Castillo. |
