NBA -- Thunders strikes Bucks in Milwaukee By Marco Del Castillo PhilBoxing.com Mon, 18 Nov 2013 MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Bucks succumbed to the Oklahoma City Thunder on a rainy Saturday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, falling 92-79. The 13-point defeat was the Bucks' seventh loss in nine games, dropping them alongside the Washington Wizards for a share of the lowest spot in the Eastern Conference with an identical .222 winning percentage. In suffering their fifth consecutive setback, the Bucks played without injured players Caron Butler, Larry Sanders, Brandon Knight and Ersan Ilyasova. Both teams played well defensively, limiting each other to less than 42 percent shooting. Halftime ended at 42-42 but the Bucks were held scoreless in the beginning four minutes of the fourth quarter and were held to a mere 22.2 percent shooting clip. It was dry spell the Bucks couldn't recover from. Behind the cheers of an enthusiastic crowd, the Bucks started strong and went toe-to-toe with the Thunder in the first 24 minutes. But they could sustain the energy and scoring punch through all 48 minutes of play. OKC head coach Scott Brooks and the rest of the Thunder said the win was a credit to their defense and their ability to execute, which compensated for their lackluster 41.5 shooting percentage, 3.5 percent shy of their season norm. Thunder All-Star Kevin Durant, who had 24 points, five rebounds and three assists, also credited the hard work of power forward Serge Ibaka put on both ends of the floor, particularly on rebounding and blocking shots. Ibaka had 20 rebounds and four blocks to go along with his 15 points. KD said ? If we can keep a consistent defense for all four quarters and challenge every shot, we should be better with all upcoming games. Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook shot 50 percent from the field and led OKC with 26 points and four assists. ? I am getting better, confident and really comfortable trying to find my rhythm and trying my spots better than the last games,? the speedy guard told this writer. O.J. Mayo paced the Bucks with 22 points. ( MDC) Photos by Marco Del Castillo. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Marco Del Castillo. |
