NBA -- Rose is "day-to-day," ready for Friday
By Marco Del Castillo PhilBoxing.com Wed, 13 Nov 2013
CHICAGO -- After a brief scare in which he limped off the court Monday night at the United Center, superstar point guard Derrick Rose is fine, suffering just a hamstring injury the team says is "minor."
The mishap happened at the 3:39 mark of the fourth quarter against the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers. Rose drove through the opposing defense and finished with a spectacular gravity-defying layup. But he grimaced upon landing, evoking the bad memories of his ACL tear in April 2012.
After one more possession, Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau pulled out Rose in favor of Kirk Hinrich. The Bulls went on to beat the Cavs, 96-81, with Rose tallying 16 points and seven assists.
More importantly, Rose, the youngest NBA MVP awardee, is okay. This was confirmed Tuesday and according to ESPN, no MRI was required to further evaluate the injury.
"It's just a minor strain. Nothing serious. It's nothing big at all. I should be ready. I'm still able to walk around the way I want to. It's just a little sore," Rose told the Chicago Tribune after Monday's tiff.
The 3-3 Bulls hope to go over the .500 mark against the 3-5 Toronto Raptors at the Air Canada Centre on Friday. They then return to Chicago on Saturday to host the league-leading 8-0 Indiana Pacers at the United Center. (MDC)
