Ex-housemate helps UST grab 1st win in UniGames volley tourney

PhilBoxing.com

Santos.
University of Sto. Tomas rookie Tigress Patricia Mae ?Tricia? Santos made sure that her first game in the 18th FilOil-Unigames Women?s Volleyball Tournament will be remarkable.

This after the 18-year-old and former Pinoy Big Brother teen housemate helped her team notched their first win yesterday against Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod Lady Eagles at the USLS-IS covered court.

The visiting Golden Tigress stunned the reigning NOPSSCEA first runner-up in 52 minutes scrimmage with strong attacks on the disarray Eagles? defense: 25-13, 25-14, 25-18.

Santos, during yesterday?s post-game interview, said that she is very happy with her team?s victory adding that they enjoyed every match they played. ?I?m very honored to play for UST and given that chance (to play) in this UniGames,? the 5? 8? former Ateneo de Davao spiker said. ?I will give my best performance in every game I play to help my team. And, I will play in the glory of God,? the teenage volleybelle added.

The rookie started playing since her grade school and easily found herself a place in this sports.

Meanwhile, when asked why picked UST, the rookie Tigress said, ?UST has always been my dream school. I always like the coach, the coaching staff, the team, and I believe in its programs.?

And, despite the fame and fortune in showbiz, in which many of her co-players have embraced, Santos chose the other way around and opted to pick what she loves most? volleyball. ?Volleyball is really my passion. I believe that I have to pursue where my heart is.?

As a person, the young volleyball star is also known to be thrifty, in which she saves her allowance to enable her to buy what she wants. She also loves acting as she tried to enter ABS-CBN?s acting workshop last year but was not allowed by her mom.

At press time, the Golden Tigress is playing against the Rizal Technological University. UST last registered back-to-back title in 2009 and 2010 when the UniGames were held in Central Philippine University in Iloilo and Silliman University in Dumaguete City, respectively.

Also suiting up for Odjie Mamon?s UST are skipper Midori Hirotsuji, Chloe Cortez, Ingrid Reyes, Pam Lastimosa, Carmela Tunay, Alexine Cabanos, Jessey de Leon, Julienne Depante, Yannen Palec, and Marivic Meneses. (WATCHMEN DAILY JOURNAL)
