NBA -- Chris Paul puts on a show, Clips down Nuggets

LAS VEGAS -- Chris Paul put on a show in a city full of shows, scoring 40 points and 11 assists to lead the Los Angeles Clippers past the Denver Nuggets in overtime, 118-111, Friday night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
Two of Paul's 41 points, a lay-up with 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter sent the game into overtime. In the extra session, the Clippers uncorked a 14-7 run that put the game to bed.
Power forward Blake Griffin, the other half of the Clippers' 1-2 punch, turned in an impressive 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists in 39 minutes, but it was Darren Collision who shot lights out, 10-for-13 from the field for 27 points. Jamal Crawford and Jared Dudley also combined for 16 for Los Angeles.
Anthony Randolph and Evan Fournier paced the Nuggets with 16 points apiece. Andre Miller had 15 and J.J. Hickson added 12. The Nuggets 43 of 87 field goals while the more efficient Clippers drilled 42-81. The Clips were outrebounded 45-37, but thanks to Paul, Los Angeles narrowly won the assists battle, 26-25.
The Clippers are now 4-2 in preseason play while the Nuggets fell to 2-3.
