 Nardo.
(Watchmen Daily Journal) -- Following the recent success of undefeated WBO minimuweight champion Merlito ?Tiger? Sabillo and newly-crowned WBO Asia Pacific Superflyweight champion Arthur ?El Matador? Villanueva over the weekend, another Top Prime Stable mainstay, Jerry ?Dangerous? Nardo is also eyeing to become one of the world?s boxing champions as he gets a world title fight on August 8 in Southport RSL Club in Queensland, Australia.
The Escalante City-hailed Nardo (17-2-1 win-loss-draw with 8 KO?s) is scheduled to go up against Australian Corey McConnell (12-1-1 win-loss-draw with a KO) for the vacant World Boxing Union (WBU) featherweight belt.
According to Top Prime Stable manager Rev. Guanzon that Nardo has long been waiting for this opportunity to prove his worth inside the ring and become another world champion from Top Prime Stable. ?This is his chance, so he must work hard for it,? Guanzon added.
Meanwhile, WBU was founded in January 1995 by IBF European representative Jon W Robinson, who passed away in 2004.
Among those great fighters who won WBU titles are Ricky Hatton, George Foreman, Thomas Hearns, Baby Jake Matlala, James Tony, Johnny Nelson and Micky Ward.
The organization?s title at present could be compared with the early days of the WBO, where it?s well-recognized in Europe and Africa.
