FEMALE BOXERS FEATURED IN TAGUIG CARD

PhilBoxing.com

MANILA (PNA) -- A 10-round showdown between two of the country?s top minimumweight lady fighters ? Carleans Rivas and Jesebelle Pagaduan - will spice up the 88-round Shape-Up Boxing Promotions presentation July 27 at the Treston College Gymnasium in Taguig City.

The 24-year-old Rivas and the similarly head-turning Pagaduan, 28, will dispute the vacant female 105-pound crown in one of the three 10-round main events featuring come backing Bernabe Concepcion and Richard Betos in the top attraction.

Concepcion, a former top contender in the featherweight division until he lost interest in what promised to be a lucrative boxing career will try to salvage what remains of his passion against Betos, a bull-strong campaigner fighting under the Don Punch Stable of Butuan City.

Daniel Ferreras battles Eden Sonsona in a super-bantamweight scrap rounding out the triple main event of the card, organized by Baguio City businessman-sportsman Anson Tiu Co.

Three other 10-rounders, four six-rounders and a pair of four-rounders complete the marathon card but Rivas and Pagaduan are expected to steal the show from their male counterparts not only because of their beauty but because this will be a rare opportunity for fight aficionados to witness a championship bout in the distaff side of sweet science.

Pagaduan, fighting out of the Johnny Monis Boxing Gym of Valenzuela City will actually be aiming for the 105-pound diadem she failed to win in a recent fight with Lady Love Sampiton. She won that fight but was not awarded the title after she climbed the ring one pound heavier than the prescribed 105-pound limit.

?Hindi ko mana nakuha ang titulo the last time around, pipilitin ko nang maiuwi ang korona sa labang ito,? the bantam-sized Pagaduan, who stands barely five-feet said during yesterday?s SCOOP Sa Kamayan session at the Kamayan Restaurant-Padre Faura.

Rivas, who is taller at 5-5 and the star of Ana Rivas Fight Stable, disagreed though saying she prepared long and hard for this encounter, she would not allow anyone to deny her of the championship, ?especially because Mr. Co has promised the winner a trip to either Japan or Korea.?

The three other 10-round supporting dish pit Jeffrey Cerna against Jaymart Toyco in a flyweight scrap, Prell Tupas against Vergel Puton in super-bantamweight bout and Ronnel Ferreras against Michael Landero in 107-pound showdown.
