FOUR FILIPINO FIGHTERS SEE ACTION IN "ORIENTAL BOXING NIGHT" JULY 23 IN TOKYO

PhilBoxing.com

Filipino fighters continue being an exciting draw in boxing shows all over the world, including the land of the rising sun. As proof of that, a total of four Filipino warriors will see action in the exciting fight card "Oriental Boxing Night" (東洋拳闘家対決) to take place at the famed Korakuen Hall on Tuesday July 23 in Tokyo, Japan, a boxing show that no Filipino fight fan in Tokyo should miss.

The Filipinos are Super Flyweight Rene Dacquel of Abra Province, Super Bantamweight Jovylito Aligarbes of Lanao del Norte, Flyweight Ryan Bito of Bato, Leyte and Bantamweight fight girl Honey Mae Bermoy of General Santos City. All will battle tough opponents on July 23 in the Land of the Rising Sun.

"This is a great opportunity for the young Filipino fighters to advance their boxing careers here in Japan," commented promoter Hiroshi Katsumata, president and CEO of Katsumata Promotions of Tokyo.

In one of the fights, the very active Rene Dacquel (9-1, 2 KOs) in his fourth combat this year (and his first one outside the Philippines), will trade blows with Thai warrior Yodenkeng Mor Suwot Gym in an 8-rounder in the 115 lbs division.

Jovylito Aligarbes (7-2, 2 KOs) aka "Jovy Katsumata" sees action too. Despite recently being knocked out in four rounds by Japanese Nobuhiro Hisano (9-2-1, 5 KOs) at U.S. Army Camp Zama in Kanagawa, promoter Hiroshi Katsumata is proving that he has faith in the fighting talent of Jovy.

So this time the promoter has scheduled Jovy against a supposedly easier opponent: Japanese Yuki Nakai (6-3-2, 2 KOs) of Chiba.

The ever smiley 19-year-old Jovy Katsumata better focus on winning and don't blow this time... or his chances of developing a successful boxing career in Japan might be in jeopardy.

In addition, 27-year-old Filipino journeyman Ryan Bito (21-11-3, 7 KOs) of Bato Leyte, who was knocked out in his last two fights, now has the golden chance of turning things around if he beats his apparently much weaker Thai opponent Keattisak Tor Chalermchai (2-2, 0 KOs).

It will be the Thailander's first fight in Japan far away from his beautiful homeland. In contrast, the much more experienced Ryan Bito has already fought in Japan as well as in other foreign lands, including Thailand, Korea, and even Mexico.

Yes, despite very poor performances in his recent fights, the Leyte?o Ryan Bito should emerge victorious from his clash with the Thai underdog.

Moreover, 19-year-old Filipina bantamweight Honey Mae Bermoy (3-2, 3 KOs) born in Gensan will face Thai fight girl Phokaew Tor Chalermchai (0-1, 0 KOs) in a 6-rounder attraction. The Thai girl's one and only rumble in professional boxing ended in a lost by knockout at the paradisaical Thai beach of Phuket.

Meanwhile, Honey Mae Bermoy, who has been a boxer of the stable of fighters of Iligan City Councilor Fredie Siao, is now known as "Honey Katsumata."

It will be both girls first combat outside their countries. But the Filipina Honey Katsumata apparently having a bit more battle experience. However, there is an unknown chance that the Thai girl might have prior ring experience as a muay thai fighter. If so, that would make the Thai girl more dangerous that originally thought.

Generally, almost all Thai boxers begin their fighting careers in muay thai, the popular #1 sport in the Kingdom and later on switch to standard boxing.

Honey Katsumata will find out about her opponent's ring savvy on July 23.

As informed the promoter, the event will be broadcast live on the web through "Athlete Japon" www.athlete-japon.com

Fights will be on July 23 from 5:30pm till 10pm Japan Time. Philippines Time is 1 hour behind Japan's Time.
