?CANELO? ALVAREZ SAYS THIS IS HIS TIME BUT TRAINER ROBERT GARCIA SAYS NOT YET
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Thu, 04 Jul 2013

Undefeated Mexican Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez who faces pound for pound king and undefeated super welterweight Floyd Mayweather Jr at a catch-weight of 152 pounds on the Mexican Independence Day weekend at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on September 14 is confident of inflicting the first loss in Mayweather?s career.
Alvarez who wound up their multi-city tour in Los Angeles said ?in boxing everyone has their time. This is my time and in September we will win together.?
However, 2012 ?Trainer of the Year? Robert Garcia, himself a former world champion told the Manila Standard that while Canelo ?is very strong and will keep coming at Mayweather and although it will be a difficult fight he (Mayweather) will outbox him and win a decision. I don?t see Canelo beating him (Mayweather) right now.?
Garcia predicted ?it will be a great fight, a great experience and one of the biggest in many years? even as he lamented the fact that he couldn?t get tickets on the day the fight was officially announced but stressed ?I?ll still be there.?
The trainer of former WBO/Ring Magazine super bantamweight champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire said ?there is no word as yet on who Nonito is going to fight next. We should be meeting with his manager Cameron Dunkin and Donaire next week in Las Vegas.?
He said Donaire has been doing some light training and that is recovering well from surgery to remove a bone spur and mend two torn ligaments in his right shoulder after his stunning loss to former Cuban two-time Olympic gold medalist Guillermo Rigondeaux in New York last April 13.
Garcia also disclosed that younger brother and WBO featherweight champion Mikey Garcia will move up in weight and fight lightweight champion Rocky Martinez towards the end of the year.
He said ?Mikey is training because we are always in the gym. Besides, we don?t know when he?ll fight,? indicating he would need to be ready.
