BOXER IN CONTRACTUAL DISPUTE WITH MANAGER, LOSES IN JAPAN
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 05 Jun 2013

Reigning WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight champion Jose Ocampo who is currently involved in a contractual dispute with his registered manager, former boxer and now trainer Emil Romano, has lost by a 5th round TKO to Japan?s Koseki Nakama in a scheduled eight round bout at the Convention Center in Okinawa.
A report from Okinawa said the referee stopped the fight at 2:36 of the fifth round. Filipino promoter Sammy Gello-ani disclosed that it was Ocampo's trainer Celso Epanto who stopped the fight after Ocanpo suffered a "nasty deep cut because of a head-butt" which the referee didn't signal. He also claimed that whenever Nakama appeared to be in trouble the referee would step in and halt the action.
The Games and Amusements Board legal department summoned Romano following a complaint filed late last year by Ocampo in which the boxer alleged that Romano had threatened him and asked him to leave his home and allegedly pulled a gun on him and that since then he has been living in Cebu with his wife and child and training there.
Romano reportedly denied the charges.
Both respondents were summoned and Romano answered the allegations of Ocampo in an exchange of pleadings with the case being submitted for resolution.
The GAB legal division is expected to submit its findings to GAB chairman Monchu Guanzon and the board for resolution. A decision is likely to be handed down sometime later this month.
The chairman told the Manila Standard that in the meantime the GAB had informed the Japanese promoter in Okinawa to send the 30 percent manager?s share which Romano wanted held as he is the legal manager of Ocampo, to be transferred to the GAB until a decision is reached on the complaint of Ocampo.
