Guerreros line up best guns against Kazakhstan

PhilBoxing.com

Lausanne, Switzerland, 11 April 2013 - The iconic main square of Mexico City, El Z?calo will be the theatre of the exciting World Series of Boxing (WSB) semi-final between Mexico Guerreros and Astana Arlans Kazakhstan, this Friday 12 April (21:00 local time).

Having eliminated the British Lionhearts in the previous round, the hosts are ready to deliver another show in front of thousands of their fans. However the Arlans have demonstrated so far that only the Team Trophy is interesting for them and they will be difficult to stop.

Still unbeaten this season and ranked No.1 in the Bantamweight (50-54kg) category, Elias Emigdio will open the evening with the difficult task to put his team on the right track. He will face Astana Arlans Kazakhstan's Meirbolat Toitov. Although the Kazakh has lost his only WSB fight to date against British superstar Andrew Selby, he managed to display some good skills over their bout. This tall southpaw proved to be strong and capable of very dangerous punches. Emigdio who likes to control the fight from the very first seconds, will need to mark his territory with extra power.

At Lightweight (57-61kg), newcomer Luis Daniel Flores Norberto will represent the Guerreros. Only 18 of age, Norberto, a national bronze medallist, will face Yerzhan Mussafirov in his WSB debut. The Kazakh orthodox fighter has faced some trouble in the League since his Individual Championships title in 2011. However this season, he has won two home fights, for two close defeats away. Expect a complicated WSB start for Norberto.

Ranked No.1 in the Middleweight (68-73kg) division, 19-year-old Marvin Cabrera is looking forward to battling out with Arlans' Abuyazit Ugurchiyev. This will be the first WSB outing for the 23-year-old Kazakh. Cabrera has won five bouts this season, including toughest one against Russia Aleksandr Ivanov. The Mexican is high on confidence and hungry to bring a victory in the heart of this historic venue.

Fast and furious puncher Isaac Mu?oz will come into his Light Heavyweight (80-85kg) bout against savvy Croatian Hrvoje Sep. The Mexican, ranked No.2 this season, has been impressive so far but will face his strongest test to date when he locks horns with Sep, a fighter whose record shows 11 wins for only one defeat to powerhouse Peralta.

The fight of the night is expected to be the Heavyweight (91+kg) showdown between Guerreros' Gerardo Miguel Bisbal and experienced Filip Hrgovic. Puerto Rico Bisbal has won five fights this season and comes up with a lot of confidence, "I am ready to win this fight". Hrgovic is vastly experienced for being only 20, with a 14-3 WSB career record over three seasons, so will be going all-out to win for Kazakhstan. He recently declared, "I think Bisbal is a very talented boxer, but if I fight at 100%, I don't see why I should experience any problem." An explosive fight is guaranteed here.
