MILWAUKEE -- The Oklahoma City Thunder went on a 22-7 run in the final 8:39 of the fourth quarter to annex an impressive 109-99 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks here at the BMO Harris Bradley Center Saturday night.
The Thunder, who led by 11 in the opening half, made their move after Marquis Daniels gave the Bucks their biggest lead of the night at 92-87. The come from behind triumph kept the 54-20 Oklahoma City in second place in the Western Conference, two games behind the San Antonio spurs. The Miami Heat of the Eastern Conference holds the NBA's best record at 57-15.
Point guard Russell Westbrook led OKC with a quiet triple-double, 23 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Kevin Durant dropped 30 on 10-for-19 shooting while Serge Ibaka had 16 points, seven rebounds and eight blocks. Kevin Martin and Nick Collison came off the bench with a combined 27 points and 11 rebounds.
"In order to beat them (Thunder), you know, you've got to make shots. I know it sounds very simple but just about every open shot you get. you got to make it and we just didn't make enough of them tonight," Bucks head coach Jim Boylan told reporters during a post-game press conference.
At 37-38, the Bucks remain in 8th place in the East, three games behind the Boston Celtics.
Ersan Ilyasova finished with 29 for the Bucks while Ekpe Udoh added 14, but as coach Boylan pointed out, Milwaukee struggled mightily from the field, making only 37 of 98 field goals for a meager 37.8 percent. The Bucks also missed 17 of 29 three-point shots. (RG)
