NBA -- Heat back on track with win over Hornets
By Homer D. Sayson PhilBoxing.com Sat, 30 Mar 2013

CHICAGO -- The Miami Heat manifested no ill effects from their March 27 defeat to the Chicago Bulls which snapped their second longest winning streak in the NBA at 27 games.
Behind LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, the defending champion Heat pounded the New Orleans Hornets Friday night at the New Orleans Arena, 108-89. James rattled 36 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished four assists while Wade added 17 points and nine dimes. Norris Cole had 12 and Chris Bosh chipped in 10.
After trailing briefly at 11-9, Miami took the first quarter 32-22 and led 60-43 at halftime. The Heat made 42 of their 69 field goals and 14 of 27 threes. At 57-15, the Heat clinched homecourt advantage in the Eastern Conference playoffs. But with the San Antonio Spurs leading the Western Conference at 55-17, Miami is still fighting for the NBA's best record overall and homecourt advantage in the NBA Finals.
With a 27-game win-streak on hand, the Heat were chasing the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers' record of 33 wins in a row when they fell flat in Chicago, losing to the Bulls, 101-97.
Ryan Anderson finished with 20 and Eric Gordon had 17 for the Hornets. New Orleans drilled 34 of 74 field goals but went just 5-for-18 from 3-point range.
The Hornets' disappointing season dropped to 25-48 and head coach Monty Williams had an interesting take on LeBron's performance, telling NBA.com "(Michael) Jordan played against men. LeBron plays against young boys. That's the difference." (Homer D. Sayson)
