NBA -- Hinrich goes down, again By Ricardo Gardunio PhilBoxing.com Tue, 05 Mar 2013 ![]() Kirk Hinrich. CHICAGO -- Kirk Hinrich sat out Sunday's showdown with division rival Indiana Pacers. He was seen sporting a walking boot prior to the game. And this comes as no surprise as Kirk has been hit with the injury bug on more than one occasion this season, sitting out a total of 16 games due to seven various nagging injuries. Hinrich is the ideal point guard for Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau. Hinrich is a very able court general, who plays tough in-your-face defense and is a great help defender. He is also a deft ball distributor, efficient on offense, and really helps with spacing and spreading the floor. The Bulls are 29-15 with him in the line-up and a daunting 5-11 without him. The fact of the matter is, he is, in the absence of the injured Derrick Rose, the best option at point guard until 'The Return' finally comes to fruition. Nate Robinson is a nice guy to have on the bench, comes in and brings instant offense to a Bulls squad that is lacking in that department. The former slam dunk champ still has some hops to his game, and standing a mere 5'9" kind of necessitates that. But he has never been known as a defender and particularly struggles with guarding larger guards. He often takes bad shoots and Thibs is often seen berating him for his decisions on the court. Then there is our rookie Marquis Teague. Thibs has been known to not favor playing rookies. Jimmy Butler barely saw the court in his rookie campaign, even after a solid summer league debut. Thibs kept him on the bench all season and wanted him to learn all he could from watching Luol Deng. We all want to see Derrick Rose return to the court, he's a humble superstar and is one of the most exciting players in the league today. He gives the Bulls their best chance to win it all! Until the day comes, the Bulls have to rely on Kirk to keep them going throughout this trying season, as he has done for us in a Bulls uniform since Chicago drafted him in 2003.
